OCRvet takes part in new study on chronic kidney disease in dogs

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive pathology that significantly impacts the quality of life and life expectancy of affected dogs, despite current medical treatments. It is therefore crucial to develop new treatments capable of improving the quality of life and lifespan of the animals concerned.
Symptoms of this pathology include reduced appetite, increased drinking, decreased urine production or, on the contrary, increased urine production… Fatigue, lethargy and digestive problems can also be observed.

To help advance veterinary medicine, OCRVET is taking part in the coordination of an international study to assess the efficacy and safety of a new treatment for CKD in dogs, using an innovative therapy.

For owners, this study may enable early detection of CKD in dogs, as well as comprehensive treatment that can last up to two years.
It will also offer new treatment options for veterinarians.

The data collected will support a possible marketing authorization (MA), thanks to the joint collaboration of veterinarians, owners, OCRVET and the study sponsor, a major player in animal health.
